Hit the Road
We are high over the Knik Glacier north of Anchorage, trying to take in the vastness and splendor that is Alaska. As far as our bird’s eye view takes us, there are rugged snow-covered peaks, braided rivers and giant sheets of moving ice that have created the valley where Alaska’s largest city sits.
It’s late May, four in the afternoon and 100 degrees, but I’m cool.
We are in one of Healdsburg’s several antique stores, combing through a pile of old LIFE magazines, looking for one published the week of my birth. (Let’s just say it was sometime during the last millennium.)
Traveling can present some challenges, so thank goodness there are creative people out there who are always coming up with ingenious ideas to make being on-the-go more convenient. Here are some offerings that will do just that:
